Reservoir Rim Stability
From ASDSO Dam Safety Toolbox
The stability of the reservoir rim and surrounding hillsides should be assessed during design and monitored during and after construction. In some instances, filling of a reservoir causes instabilities in the reservoir rim. In extreme cases, these instabilities have proven disastrous to the safety of the dam and reservoir.
