Dams made of steel are less common than masonry, embankment, or concrete. Only a few steel dams were ever built. Two steel dams still exist in the United States: the Ashfork-Bainbridge Dam built in 1898 in [[Arizona]], and the Redridge Dam built in 1901 in the Upper Peninsula of [[Michigan]].

The Redridge Dam was one of the few large-scale steel dams ever built in the United States.
