This manual prescribes guidance for the design of Hydraulic Steel Structures (HSS) by load and resistance factor design (LRFD). This includes design of new structures,
replacement, rehabilitation, and repair of gates and other hydraulic structures. Mechanical and electrical design considerations are addressed in EM lll0-2-2610. Criteria in this manual are due to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' (USACE) unique structures and their associated risks and may exceed industry requirements. The criteria in this manual are minimum USACE requirements.
