The Conowingo Dam is a masonry gravity dam and hydroelectric station located along the Susquehanna River in the state of Maryland.

Gravity dams are the most common form of concrete/masonry dam. The mass weight of concrete or masonry and friction resist the reservoir water pressure. Gravity dams are constructed of vertical blocks (monoliths) of concrete or masonry with flexible seals in the joints between the blocks.
