Message: Simple single gate systems protected by towers are proven, but there are considerations to be aware of

Reservoir towers with single gates have been used for many years with success, as shown in this 110 year old dam. To prevent excessive use of auxiliary spillway to control the reservoir level, extra attention by dam tender is necessary. For this dam, the dam tender lives on site.
