Bureau of Indian Affairs
From ASDSO Dam Safety Toolbox
The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Safety of Dams program was established under the Indian Dams Safety Act of 1994, Public Law No. 103-302 (25 U.S.C. § 3801 et seq.). Its mission is to reduce the potential loss of human life and property damage caused by dam failure by making BIA dams as safe as practically possible. It is responsible for all dams on Indian land. These dams form a significant part of water resources and trust assets for Indian reservations. Learn more here: https://www.bia.gov/bia/ots/dwp/safety-dams
