Dams made of steel are less common than masonry, embankment, or concrete. Only a few steel dams were ever built. Two steel dams still exist in the United States: the Ashfork-Bainbridge Dam built in 1898 in Arizona, and the Redridge Dam built in 1901 in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
